Small rosulate annual. Leaves linear–subulate, 0.8–1.5 cm long, c.1 mm wide, fenestrate, 3–nerved, acute. Scapes up to c.7, 1.5–3 cm high, 0.5 mm diam., 4–5–ribbed. Sheaths equalling the leaves, the limb subacute. Capitulum subglobose, 4–4.5 mm wide, dirty white, ± glabrous, bracts loose and untidy, the flowers visible between. Involucral bracts as wide as the capitulum, spreading in a single series, narrowly ovate, 2.4 x 1.2 mm, pale, membranous, shortly acuminate. Floral bracts similar in colour and texture, narrowly obovate, cuspidate, glabrous or the inner with a few white papillae on the back. Receptacle small, glabrous. Flowers trimerous, sessile, female 1.8–2.0 mm long, peripheral, male 1.4–1.5 mm long. Male flowers: sepals narrowly oblanceolate–oblong, connate only near the base, pallid or flushed pale grey, laterals lightly concave, median flat, glabrous or a few white papillae at the truncate–denticulate tips; petals tiny, glandular, glabrous or with a few white papillae; anthers 6, black. Female flowers: sepals subequal, pallid, the laterals concave, narrowly ovate, 0.7 x 0.5 mm, the median slightly narrower and flatter, sparsely pilose along the midline and a few short hairs on the margins, acute; petals unequal, oblanceolate–spathulate, median 2.0 x 0.5 mm, laterals 1.6 x 0.4 mm, all glandular, pilose with short whitish hairs in the upper third; ovary sessile, blackish. Seeds ellipsoid, 0.45–0.55 mm, light brown, almost smooth; testa cells transversely elongated, the anticlinal walls without projections.
